Association of Medical Physicists in Russia

AMPR was created in 1993 and at present comprises more than 350 individual members from the leading Russian medical, technical and scientific institutions and 6 collective members (organizations) among which the most important medical, research and technological centers and institutes, manufacturers of medical equipment, service companies all over Russia.

Main goals of AMPR:

• to organize and support the fundamental and applied research works in the field of medical physics and engineering;
• to contribute to the introduction of high medical technologies and efficient equipment for diagnostics, therapy and prevention of diseases;
• to organize and support the educational and publishing activities;
• to organize and back up the international contacts with foreign scientists and specialists;
• to support the status of medical physicist and provide the certification of medical physicists;
• to defend the social and professional rights and interests of the AMPR members.

Financial resources of the AMPR:

• membership fees of individual and collective members;
• financial aid of companies, organizations, enterprises which share the AMPR goals of and wish to contribute effectively to the struggle against severe diseases;
• grants and contracts for research and development with the governmental, federal and regional administrative agencies, governmental and private enterprises, medical scientific and research organizations.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Society of Euro-American Medical Physicists (SEAMP) is a newly created international organization that unites primarily American physicists from the former Soviet Union and Europe. However, SEAMP is open for any healthcare professional in radiation therapy, diagnostics, nuclear medicine and related fields regardless of the country of origin. Now we established seven committees, have branches in Canada, Russia, Israel, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland and would be happy to create new ones. Recently, upon the request of our colleagues from Bangladesh, a SEAMP branch was opened in their country. Our team comprised of highly qualified clinical physicists, researchers, radiation oncologists, radiologists, radiobiologists, designers and developers of medical equipment and test tools. Briefly, SEAMP is an International network of highly qualified professionals in radiation medicine united by similar interests, background and traditions.

Membership in SEAMP is free and may give a lot of opportunities in any kind of professional activity. We plan to arrange our first party during the meeting of American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in Philadelphia in July 2010. There are different suggestions about possible activities of our Society, but any of us can obtain additional resources for many kinds of endeavors, good professional advice and new friends all over the world.
